Q. Master, You are very beautiful and have much to offer. I am glad to be here. My question has to do with the ego. What are we to do with it, if anything, and why does it exist?

M. I see. The ego doesn't exist actually. The ego comes from the information that we collect during our time, and during our inter-relationships with others or with all things around us, yes.

For example, when you were born, you had no ego. But when you grow up and then you know yourself to be beautiful or handsome, yes, then, the ego begins to grow yeah. And everybody praises you. Wa! you're beautiful! And then, You have a Ph.D.! You grow more in pride, and that is the ego, yeah. But, don't worry about it. It's just a good accessory sometimes. And you can throw it away anytime you don't need. But, you have to have enlightenment first in order to know when to wear it, and when to put it down. Okay?

Q. How do you distinguish the voice of God from your own ego's voice? How do we know Gods voice?

M. Oh! It is different. That's why we have to practice. The ego will fall away once we come in contact with the God power. At the moment we're all doing everything with ego: "We helped this person, we helped that person." This is all ego. We feel a sense of satisfaction that "I helped her, I did this for her." But when we are in contact with this supreme powers we lose the sense of "I" doing things, and we see God doing everything. God uses this body, understand? And that body is also God. "The one who helped and the one who got helped are all God." Understand? Then you don't feel that separation any more.

Q. The ego is a strong force, how does one overcome the ego?

M. By being enlightened. Ego is the clinging attention to a small self, which is like, "Oh! I am a doctor. I am a scientist. I am a teacher. I am such and such intelligent and high position person." That is the ego. But when we know our greater self, that loses inside. Because we are not only the doctor, we are God, or at least God's children; we are Buddha, okay? That's the only way to melt the ego within the greater frame of the self.

Q. Master said that water in the cup is the same with water in the ocean, but because of our egos which separates water of the cup from the ocean. Is it right that meditation means making a hole at bottom of the cup to have the water merge with the ocean?

M. Initiation means that. Yes! Open the connected hole and so the water can come in and out all the time. So the water in the cup is the water in the ocean, and the water in the ocean is the water in the cup. Yes. Everyday when you meditate, it's just like water flowing in and out all the time, making it fresh so that the water in the cup does not become rotten.
